Unique Places to Visit in Osaka

With that explained, we will discuss now, why Osaka could be your choice of study. For those who may have studied Japanese history, Osaka was the Tokyo during the Sengoku period (戦国時代) or Warring period of Japan. It was also the city in which Toyotomi Hideyoshi, a warlord, used the city as his residence. With that, Osaka developed into a major city and a port city. Also, Osaka became a major place for silver production and exchange from gold to silver.

Osaka is also a hub for food and cuisine, which the port city eventually was called and known as the Nation’s Kitchen. Such cuisines created in this kitchen include okonomiyaki (お好み焼き), takoyaki (たこ焼き), udon (うどん), and even traditional oshizushi (押し寿司) or pressed sushi. Also, Osaka is known for its fine sake, which is made from the freshwater that comes from the prefecture’s mountains.
The city had much success as one of the culinary leaders perhaps due to the result of the location of Osaka, which provides access to high-quality ingredients, mass amounts of merchants, and how close the ocean is with waterway trade.

With this city, perhaps in the age of globalization and the increase of gastro-diplomacy, has made it a hotbed for tourism who want to not only experience one of the largest city in Japan but also the foods that they offer to the masses as well.
