Tokyo(東京): The land of the rising gaikokujin
Tokyo is currently one of the most sought after tourist destinations in the world. Currently the home to 37 million people, both local and foreign, Tokyo is one of the busiest places in Japan. It is considered to not only be a tourist destination, but also is considered a powerhouse of economy and growth. It houses a multitude of companies of different industries and is also considered to be a huge mixing pot of different nationalities and culture. In 2018, the Greater Tokyo Area was ranked as the most populous metropolitan area in the world. May it be for the different subcultures, fashion, culture and even technology.. Tokyo is the right place to integrate yourself to fully embrace all the things Japan has to offer.
In popular culture and media, Tokyo is very much present and seen both locally and internationally. May it be action films (Tokyo Drift) to romantic films (Lost in translation), to drama where Hollywood has forever immortalized Shibuya as Hachiko’s resting place. Hollywood is no stranger to romanticizing Tokyo, making it such a desirable place to live. Places like Shinjuku, Shibuya and Ginza are just three of the most popular places in the 26 cities and 23 wards found in Tokyo. Every city/ward has its own specialty like how Shinjuku has the red light district, or how Shibuya and Ginza have the best shops and clubs. One thing that is great about Tokyo is how even though it is huge, going from one place to another is so conveniently easy because of the metro system found in almost every corner. This makes it very convenient and safe for foreigners to explore around the city.
From what we have mentioned above, Tokyo is one of the best places to be in if you are the type of person who loves having fun, integrating with the locals and culture, and also learning. What we have not mentioned in one of the many perks of living in Japan is how there is so much potential for people here when it comes to education and employment. Tokyo acting as the hub of Japan entices numerous companies and schools to put up shop in Tokyo and being the center of Japan, makes living here very convenient. Schools, companies, apartments, dorms, convenience stores, restaurants, and train stations are usually very close to each other and English (although not as good as foreigners would want) is more commonly spoken here as well. It’s a students paradise!
Japanese Vocational Schools

Studying in vocational Schools in Japan is the fastest way for aspiring employees to find employment in a field that needs special skills. Although not necessarily cheap, students who opt for vocational schools usually finish their courses in 1 to 2 years time. The only catch is how most aspiring students are required to have an N2 level Japanese certification and a HS diploma.
