Nagoya (名古屋): The lesser known giant

Nagoya is the capital of Aichi prefecture and is considered to be one of Japan’s major ports. Being quite close to Osaka and Kyoto, Nagoya is a lesser known tourist destination in Japan. Even though this is the case, Nagoya has a multitude of beautiful international praise deserving places. Some of the most popular are Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical gardens, Nagoya Castle, The port of Nagoya, Meiji Village and the Atsuta Shrine. Tourists usually go for popular places and usually miss out on the beauty (and food!) of Nagoya.
Unbeknownst to most tourists, Nagoya is actually the third biggest city in Japan after Tokyo and Osaka. Its located smack in the middle of Japan and is considered to be a well developed hub for transport, production, the automotive industry, ceramics, electronics, and is also known for how living here is very low cost compared to Tokyo. This in turn has attracted many foreign nationals to reside here long term due to its employment opportunities and low cost of living.
