Kanagawa (神奈川県): More popular than you think
Kanagawa is a relatively small prefecture located in the Kanto Region of Japan where it’s main capital is Yokohama. Yokohama is one of the largest deep water port in Tokyo Bay and also houses a naval port located in Yokosuka. Kanagawa houses many beautiful tourist destinations and even a US base in Yokosuka so expect this place to have many foreign residents. Kanagawa has many popular destinations known to both foreigners and locals.
You have Hakone, Mount Fuji, Kamakura, the Chinatown in Yokohama, Hakkejima Sea paradise, and Enoshima. Kanagawa also has many outlet malls where customers can haggle with prices of branded goods! Kanagawa is also known for its food. Hakone has its Kuro-Tamago, Yokohama has it’s ramen, and the entirety of Kanagawa, being a port, is known for its delicious, fresh seafood. The best thing about this is how everything here isn’t that far from Tokyo! Kanagawa is accessible in almost every way possible. Accessible by car, bus, train, boat… almost too easy to access! When visiting different parts of Kanagawa, don’t be surprised to see a multitude of both local and foreign tourists.

The school itself is located at the center of Yokohama, 12 minutes away from the JR Yokohama train station. Classes at Yokohama International University are divided into different levels to adhere to the students levels. Classes usually contain 10-20 students each and are either in the morning or in the afternoons. The school offers as much support to its students as possible. YIJA’s teachers and staff also have regular consultations with its students in order to help them with their Japanese, their lives in Japan, and what they plan on doing after studying Japanese.

Aishin International School
This is established by a Non-Profit Organization called the Aishin International Social Exchange Association which conducts various international friendship activities. Each class has a homeroom teacher which provides guidance for learning Japanese, settling in Japan, and even career guidance. The school itself is located 3 minutes on foot from Sakuragicho station which is close to the Yokohama Stadium and the Yokohama Central Library.

Kanrin Japanese School
The great thing about this school is how students can apply 4 times a year, compared to other schools which only have around 2 openings a year. They have students from over 20 countries and their staff can speak English, French, Korean, Russian, and Chinese, which is perfect for students who cannot speak any Japanese.
