Ibaraki(茨城県): Because why NATTO?
The Ibaraki Prefecture is found in in the NorthEastern part of the Kanto Region. If you are wondering about the title of this paragraph, Natto is a type of Japanese food made from fermented soybeans, and is notorious to foreigners for its very smelly… smell. Ibaraki is known for its Natto, watermelons, and chestnuts.
Hitachi seaside park, Mount Tsukuba, Kairakuen garden, the huge Ushiku Daibutsu (huge buddha statue), Jaxa Tsukuba space centre, Fukuroda Falls, and so much more! They also have the Kiuchi Brewery for the Japanese alcohol fans and for the culturally adept, Ibaraki is known for it’s specialty in “Yuki Tsumugi” or a UNESCO certified silk weaving technique operated by talented craftsmen all over Ibaraki. Foreigners aren’t all too familiar with Ibaraki because of how it is overshadowed by places like Tokyo or Kyoto, but we are 100% sure that knowing more about it’s charm as an untouched area of Japan can entice more people into learning more about it, and hopefully exploring it.
